Election Day!

Well, today is the day when millions across our nation will cast a vote for the next president, as well as cast votes for other individuals running for various political offices.   As we participate in this long standing democratic tradition, I am reminded of two very important truths: God has established government and He is sovereign over the outcome of all elections.
(1)   God has established government.   According to Romans 13:1, “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.”  Whatever God creates is good; man is the one who taints God’s original design.
(2)   God is sovereign, totally in control of all things. The psalmist says, “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all.”  (Psalm 103:19).   And I love David’s prayer in 1 Chronicles 29:12, ”……You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.”
My sisters,  please go out and exercise your right to vote. And remember whoever is elected in the various political races is allowed to be placed in office by the Lord, for such a time as this.   Pray, vote, and watch how God is always on His throne, and always in control!!
